[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City conducted a survey targeting users of smart libraries, revealing that the most frequented location was the Pureungil Park Smart Library, which offers easy accessibility, and the most active usage time was after work hours.
According to Nam-gu on the 29th, the survey was conducted via mobile among residents who used any of the four smart libraries in the district within the last three months, including Pureungil Park Smart Library, Mudeung Market Smart Library, Namgwangju Nonghyup Front Smart Library, and Multipurpose Gymnasium Smart Library.
The survey results showed that the smart library most used by residents was the Pureungil Park Smart Library located behind Bigsupo in Juwol-dong (51.8%), followed by the Multipurpose Gymnasium Smart Library (21%) and the Namgwangju Nonghyup Front Smart Library (18.5%).
Regarding reasons for using the smart libraries, the most common response was “good accessibility” (33.8%), with “convenient borrowing and returning” and “long operating hours” also accounting for 31.9% and 26.7%, respectively.
When asked about the time of use, 46.7% of respondents indicated between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. This reflects the distinctive feature of smart libraries, allowing users to borrow books freely without visiting the library in person or being constrained by time.
In addition, the main inconveniences reported were dissatisfaction with the limit of two books per person for borrowing and the lack of the latest books.
Nam-gu operates the two-book limit per person according to the book lending regulations to ensure smooth circulation of books, but plans to improve this regulation for user convenience and shorten the book purchasing cycle to stock mainly the latest books.
Furthermore, the satisfaction rate among smart library users was found to be 93.9%, indicating a generally high level of satisfaction.
A Nam-gu official stated, “We will prepare user-centered books and, through service improvements, develop the smart libraries into facilities that receive great love from residents.”
