"To Bonghwa~ Let's Go!" ... This Summer Vacation, the Best Festival Trip Bonghwa Buncheon Midsummer Festival in Gyeongbuk.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The ‘Bonghwa Euneo Festival,’ designated as a representative festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gyeongbuk Province, opens on the 30th.

A lost Santa appears unexpectedly in the summer. The charming native wildflowers born in Bonghwa bring smiles just by looking at them.

You can catch euneo (sweetfish), which only live in the cleanest waters, with your bare hands. This is the cleanest place in Gyeongbuk, Bonghwa, where the best festival trip with children unfolds from the end of this month.

Held for the first time in three years due to COVID-19, this festival will be held for nine days until August 7th, brilliantly taking place around Naeseongcheon Stream in Bonghwa.

Under the theme ‘Cool in Bonghwa! Fun with Euneo,’ there are zones for children such as water playgrounds, play experience zones, and sand art sand playgrounds, as well as exciting programs including a night market within the festival, an euneo food market, and a charcoal grill corner where you can grill and taste the caught euneo.

The highlight of the festival is, of course, the ‘Euneo Catching Experience.’

Euneo catching with a bandu (a type of net) is held three times daily on weekdays and four times on weekends, while the bare-hand euneo catching experience operates four times daily on weekdays and five times on weekends. Additionally, on August 6th, the Bandu Catching Master Selection Contest will be held.

Applications can be made on the Bonghwa Euneo Festival website, and experience programs can also be applied for on-site.

This summer, the cleanest and coldest place in winter, Bonghwa, invites vacationers to a world of festivals.

Charming wildflowers, a unique themed Santa Village, and cool water are enough to captivate the feet of vacationers and children tired of the heat.

The Bunchon Midsummer Festival, which opened on the 23rd, runs until August 21st.

It is fascinating that Santa appears in the summer at Santa Village in Bunchon-ri, Socheon-myeon.

Programs such as Midsummer Starlight Travel, Santa Cooking Class, Experience Playground, and Flea Market operate, and on August 7th, ‘Arrival! Mission Arrival Dream Team’ with train tourists and Santa, and on August 13th and 21st, special programs like ‘Find the Real Santa’ will be held.

The Bongja Festival, which opened on the 28th, continues until August 7th.

Throughout the festival period, the National Baekdudaegan Arboretum welcomes tourists with bright smiles from Bonghwa’s native wildflowers that bloom in summer, such as Hairy Monkshood, Long-tailed Aster, Aster scaber, and Leopard Lily.

Various educational experiences such as seed experience research, repotting companion plants, and plant consulting, as well as exhibition events, decorate the venue splendidly throughout the event period.

To provide convenience for festival tourists visiting Bonghwa, shuttle buses circulating each festival site will also operate.

The Gyeongbuk Province urged strict compliance with basic quarantine rules according to the trend of COVID-19 spread.

Kim Sangcheol, Director of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau of the province, said, “We hope you enjoy the summer festival in Gyeongbuk during your vacation to cool off the scorching summer heat,” and added, “We will thoroughly prepare to ensure a comfortable and safe festival trip in Gyeongbuk.”
