[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwanju] EasyCareTech, a hospital information system (HIS) specialist company, and BplusLab, an AI-based medical solution company, announced on the 29th that they have signed a business agreement to jointly explore new businesses related to AI-based platforms.

This agreement was established to secure competitiveness in healthcare platforms based on the integration of AI technology and HIS, and to seek opportunities for developing various new businesses.

Through this agreement, both companies plan to ▲ explore new services utilizing EasyCareTech’s IT capabilities and BplusLab’s AI medical solutions ▲ expand business through service design and development. They also agreed to expand mutual support for service design and development necessary for joint projects.

Notably, they are reportedly reviewing the integration of BplusLab’s insurance claim relay platform with HIS to improve hospital work efficiency. This is expected to create synergy by expanding and diversifying the scope of digital healthcare solution services. HIS is a system responsible for the transfer of all hospital information, including electronic medical records (EMR), and includes services such as Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), research systems, groupware, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).

BplusLab launched the AI-based medical information service application ‘EodiApa’ in 2018, providing AI medical questionnaire services. This year, they introduced a beta service for a non-face-to-face medical platform and recently accelerated platform development by securing a pre-Series A investment of 2 billion KRW. The service is scheduled for official launch in September.

EasyCareTech, established in 2001, supplies on-premise HIS and cloud EMR to medical institutions nationwide. Notably, both their on-premise and cloud solutions were the first to receive EMR system certification from the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Recently, they completed technology patent registration for EasyOnTheCall, establishing it as the first non-face-to-face medical solution integrated with HIS in Korea.

Lee Wonryang, CEO of EasyCareTech, said, “This agreement is a partnership between companies with leading medical data capabilities,” adding, “The abundant data accumulated in our HIS and EMR will enhance the quality of BplusLab’s AI-based medical solutions and help us provide more useful healthcare information to consumers beyond hospitals.”

Jung Hoonjae, CEO of BplusLab, stated, “With this partnership, we expect BplusLab’s non-face-to-face medical platform, scheduled for official launch in September, to be built more stably,” and added, “We anticipate that the synergy created by integrating the strengths of AI-based medical solutions and the vast data of hospital information systems will provide patients with more convenient medical services.”
