Gang That Scammed Tens of Millions by Serving Drugged Coffee and Playing 'Naegi Golf'...

Forced to drink coffee containing drug ingredients before golf round
Given headache medicine and pressured to keep playing golf until the end

Gang That Scammed Tens of Millions by Serving Drugged Coffee and Playing 'Naegi Golf'... A group was arrested for forcing people to drink coffee mixed with psychotropic drugs at a golf course in Iksan City, then playing betting golf to extort tens of millions of won.

[Asia Economy Kim Gun-chan, Intern Reporter] A group was arrested for spiking coffee with drugs and cheating a longtime friend out of tens of millions of won through betting golf games.

The Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency's Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit announced on the 28th that they have arrested and sent A (52) and B (56) to prosecution on charges including violation of the Narcotics Control Act, and sent C (62) and another person to prosecution without detention.

According to the police, on April 8th at a golf course in Iksan City, A and others secretly spiked coffee with a psychotropic drug (Lorazepam) and made D (in his 50s) drink it, then played betting golf games to fraudulently obtain about 55 million won.

The police revealed that A, a member of a violent organization in the Chungcheong region, proposed to his longtime friend D, "Let's play betting golf with 300,000 won per stroke."

A conspired with B and three others to put the drug Lorazepam into coffee before the golf round and made D drink it.

After drinking the coffee and feeling lethargic, D told A and others, "I want to stop playing golf," but they reportedly forced D to continue playing by giving him headache medicine and other drugs.

D, who scored worse than usual, lost 55 million won and, suspecting fraud, reported it to the police. A subsequent urine test showed a positive reaction for drugs. Additionally, the same psychotropic drug was found in one of the cars belonging to A's group.

During the police investigation, A and others reportedly denied the charges, stating, "We did not spike the coffee with drugs. We only put sugar in it."
