Creating Forests to Enjoy with Eyes and Feel with Body on a Train Ride
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that following last year's Okgwacheon, this year the 'Fine Dust Blocking Forest Creation Project' has been completed in Oji-ri, Ogok-myeon.
This fine dust blocking forest was created so that it can be seen while riding the train from Train Village to beside Oji-ri village.
The forest consists of about 30,000 trees over a 1.4 km section, including 242 large trees, 868 medium trees, and 27,875 shrubs, with Emerald Green as the main species.
The project cost 2 billion KRW funded by the Climate Response Fund.
The fine dust blocking forest is promoted to reduce the suffering caused by fine dust and to enhance the quality of life by adding visual enjoyment.
It plays a role in blocking the spread of fine dust from its source to living areas through the physiological functions and shapes of plants and the structural composition of the forest.
At the same time, it supplies high-quality air and has the effect of lowering carbon dioxide concentration.
A county official said, "Following last year and this year, we plan to create a fine dust blocking forest in Chungui Park next year. We will create a forest that is pleasant and visually appealing not only for residents but also for tourists visiting Gokseong."
