Gwangju Hakdong Resident Autonomy Association Conducts Environmental Cleanup Campaign

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Hakdong Residents' Autonomous Committee in Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 27th that it conducted an environmental cleanup campaign to preserve the ecological environment of Gwangjucheon with about 50 residents on the 26th.

This campaign was organized as part of the 'Lululala Creating a Walkable Hakdong Connection Path' project, where EM mud balls, known for their excellent water quality improvement and river odor removal, were thrown into Gwangjucheon. Participants walked along the riverside path from Namgwanggyo Bridge to Bangrimgyo Bridge while picking up trash in a 'plogging' environmental cleanup activity.

The EM mud balls used that day were made and fermented directly by the residents and contain about 80 species of microorganisms that purify water, playing a role in decomposing the sludge layer in the river.

Chairman Gu Je-gil said, "Among the village agendas selected by the Residents' Autonomous Committee, the top priority is creating a walkable village with stories." He added, "Starting with this campaign, we will make the riverside path from the Baekbeom Kim Gu Memorial Hall to Namgwang Market a pleasant and safe walking path through various activities."
