Amid the continuous rainy season during the hot weather, Gwangju Bank served 430 servings of abalone samgyetang to local elderly residents in celebration of Jungbok (the middle of the hottest period in summer).
About 40 people participated in the meal-serving volunteer activity, including Song Jong-wook, President of Gwangju Bank, branch managers and employees from the Mokpo area, and university student ambassadors, with Mokpo Mayor Park Hong-ryul also joining.
After serving samgyetang, healthy snacks such as Gijeong rice cakes and sports towels were distributed to support the elderly in having a healthy summer.
Song Jong-wook, President of Gwangju Bank, who personally participated in the volunteer work, said, “I sincerely hope that this meal-serving volunteer activity, carefully prepared with the wish that the elderly vulnerable to the heat will have a healthy summer, will be a great comfort and strength to them,” and emphasized, “We will continue to carry out volunteer activities for the local community as a representative bank of Gwangju and Jeonnam.”
Meanwhile, on the 14th, Gwangju Bank conducted a samgyetang meal-serving volunteer activity to celebrate Chobok (the beginning of the hottest period in summer) at the Gwangsan-gu Deureuroak Senior Welfare Center located in Unnam-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju.
Every summer, Gwangju Bank has visited senior welfare facilities in various regions such as Gwangju, Mokpo, and Suncheon to serve nutritious meals to local elderly residents. After a period of social distancing and personnel restrictions due to COVID-19 quarantine guidelines, the bank has resumed meal-serving volunteer activities and plans to expand social contribution activities to help more elderly people in the community.
Additionally, Gwangju Bank operates senior-exclusive branches at Bitgoeul Health Town, Ochi-dong, and Hakdong branch offices, and conducts voice phishing prevention education by visiting senior welfare facilities, practicing inclusive finance that considers elderly customers who are easily marginalized in the digital financial era.
