Providing a Comfortable Environment for Public Transportation Users
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Andong City, Gyeongbuk, has replaced 22 aging city bus stops along the route from Andong City Hall to the Andong International Convention Center in preparation for the upcoming '2022 16th Andong International Education City Union World Congress' and the '2022 18th World Historical Cities Conference,' which will be held consecutively at the Andong International Convention Center this October and November.
The city judged that city bus stops would be a key factor influencing the city's image for out-of-town visitors traveling between downtown and tourist sites, and is accelerating improvements to city bus stop facilities linked to major tourist attractions.
They have been carrying out rapid improvement work to enhance the urban aesthetics and create unified bus stops.
Dividing the areas into the eastern region and the eup/myeon (township) regions, they have also established an environment where public transportation users can comfortably wait for buses, suitable to the city image.
Where tourist sites and installation spaces are sufficient, convenience facilities such as heating and cooling systems and air purifiers have been additionally installed considering the number of passengers, receiving positive responses.
The city expects that continuous improvements to city bus stops will enhance the urban aesthetics and greatly contribute to raising Andong’s image for tourists visiting the city.
The head of Andong City’s Transportation Administration Department said, “We will continue to improve city bus stops to enhance Andong’s image as a tourism hub city and create public transportation conditions that satisfy citizens who use public transit.”
