In May, Korea's No.1 freelance brokerage platform Kmong and the digital product agency Ddokddokhan Gaebalja signed a strategic merger and acquisition agreement.
Ddokddokhan Gaebalja is a development/design agency that provides service experiences across the entire product, from UX planning of web/applications to design and development. Since its establishment in September 2020, it has grown into a leading SI company using the latest frontend technology React and the Python-based Django framework, which holds a high market share in startups and global companies.
Currently, it partners not only with sizable startups such as Kakao, Woowa Brothers, and Riiid but also with large corporations like Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung, and KT. With a cumulative project count reaching 100, it has achieved a 250% growth rate compared to the previous year, nearly doubling its growth annually.
Additionally, to overcome limitations in the SI field, Ddokddokhan Gaebalja is making various attempts in different areas such as IT practical training ‘Incourseun’, blockchain tech lab ‘Adev’, and coworking space ‘Tipot’.
The freelance market Kmong stated, “In the accelerating trend of digital transformation, development and design are core,” adding, “We hope that Ddokddokhan Gaebalja’s fast and diverse attempts will cloudify expertise and become an opportunity to leap into a working world, that is, the No.1 Human Cloud.”
Seo Jangwon, CEO of Ddokddokhan Gaebalja, said that the agreement with Kmong is closer to a ‘strategic alliance’ rather than an ‘acquisition’. He added that while the overall operation of Ddokddokhan Gaebalja will proceed independently, they expect full-scale growth into new business expansion by actively utilizing Kmong’s know-how and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, last August, Ddokddokhan Gaebalja received high recognition in the design field by winning the branding category of the ‘Red Dot Design Award’, one of the world’s top three design competitions, with the creativity of symbolizing the alphabet TOK as +o*.
