Convenient Gwangju Yangnim-dong Tourism with the 'Smart Tour' App

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City has launched a smart tour app service that includes a guide map providing various attractions and convenience facilities in Yangnim-dong Modern History and Culture Village with voice guidance in four languages and location information transmission.

Nam-gu announced on the 22nd, "We have established an app service platform that provides non-face-to-face smart guidance on cultural heritage and representative figures of Yangnim-dong for local residents and tourists visiting Yangnim-dong."

The Yangnim-dong Smart Tour mobile app is a tourism guidance system applying Bluetooth-based Internet of Things technology using beacons, created to allow visitors to freely explore Yangnim-dong without the guidance of a tour guide.

The newly introduced app offers four themed travel courses for visitors to conveniently travel Yangnim-dong: ▲Yangnim Literary Road ▲Yangnim 100-Year Modern Road ▲Gwangju Spirit Root Road ▲Memory Storage Road, and provides voice guidance services in Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese for each course.

Additionally, app users can participate in an online stamp tour where collecting stamps from 8 or more of the 9 representative tourist sites in Yangnim-dong, including I Jang-woo House, Penguin Village, and Owen Memorial Hall, will earn them souvenirs.

Users can also freely use the ‘My Own Course and Travel Notes’ menu, which allows them to select places they want to visit among Yangnim-dong tourist sites, create their own course, and record travel reviews, along with various information such as locations and contact details of nearby restaurants and accommodations.

A Nam-gu official stated, "The implementation of a non-face-to-face smart guidance service applying digital technology has made traveling for visitors to Yangnim-dong more convenient," and added, "We will provide various contents to revitalize tourism in the Yangnim-dong area."
