TK, Honam, and 2030 Show Ahn Leading Beyond Margin of Error
Lee 25.2%, Ahn 18.3%, Na Kyung-won 9.2%
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party who received a severe disciplinary action of "6-month suspension of party membership," continues to lead in the suitability survey for the next party leader.
According to a survey conducted by polling agency Jowon C&I from the 16th to the 18th, targeting 1,000 men and women nationwide aged 18 and older, Lee recorded a support rate of 25.2%, ranking first in the suitability for the next leader of the People Power Party. Assemblyman Ahn Cheol-soo came in second with 18.3%, followed by former Assemblywoman Na Kyung-won (9.2%) and Assemblyman Kim Ki-hyun (4.9%).
Lee led in all regions. In Daegu·Gyeongbuk (TK), where the ruling party's support is strong, he recorded 29.1%, nearly doubling the gap with Assemblyman Ahn (15.0%). Notably, in Gwangju·Jeolla, considered a conservative stronghold, Lee also recorded 29.0%. The gap with second-place Ahn (9.0%) was 20.0 percentage points. In Seoul and Gyeonggi·Incheon, Lee recorded 21.1% and 22.9%, respectively, narrowly ahead of Ahn within the margin of error.
By age group, Lee's support was prominent among those in their 20s and 30s as well as those aged 60 and older. Lee recorded 33.1% and 29.3% in their 20s and 30s, respectively, and 26.0% among those 60 and older. Ahn's support rates in these age groups were 18.6%, 20.3%, and 17.7%, respectively.
Overall by gender, Lee also showed an advantage. He received 31.7% support from men and 18.9% from women. Ahn recorded 18.5% and 18.2%, respectively.
Previously, in a suitability survey for the next People Power Party leader conducted by Nextweek Research on behalf of KBC Gwangju Broadcasting and UPI News from the 12th to 13th, targeting 1,000 adults aged 18 and older nationwide, Lee also ranked first with 22.9%. Ahn came in second with 20.4%, followed by former Assemblywoman Na at 12.0%, Assemblyman Kim Ki-hyun at 5.9%, and Kwon Seong-dong, acting party leader and floor leader, at 4.0%.
This survey was conducted via ARS telephone survey using wireless RDD. The response rate was 3.5%, and the sampling error was ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. For more details, please refer to the Central Election Poll Deliberation Commission website.
