[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] U.S. President Joe Biden's approval rating has once again hit an all-time low. Six out of ten Americans opposed President Biden's handling of state affairs.
According to a poll released on the 20th (local time) by Quinnipiac University, President Biden's approval rating for his administration stood at 31%. This is the lowest level ever recorded.
Sixty-six percent of respondents opposed President Biden's economic policies, with only 28% expressing support. Support for foreign policy and responses to gun violence were 36% and 31%, respectively. Additionally, only 40% of respondents approved of the response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, while 52% opposed it.
President Biden received relatively positive evaluations regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Fifty percent of respondents supported his handling, while 42% opposed it.
The survey also confirmed negative public opinion regarding President Biden's bid for re-election. Seven out of ten Americans (71%) said they do not want President Biden to run in the 2024 presidential election. Only 24% supported his re-election bid. Even among supporters of the ruling Democratic Party, more than half (54%) said they do not want President Biden to seek re-election. Additionally, 64% responded that they do not want former President Donald Trump, Biden's political rival, to run in the 2024 election.
In a poll released the previous day by Ipsos, President Biden's approval rating was 36%, down 3 percentage points from the previous week, matching the previously recorded all-time low. Major foreign media attributed the decline in Biden's approval rating to soaring inflation and supply chain disruptions caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. Although he recently embarked on his first Middle East tour since taking office to address the high oil prices, the trip failed to produce significant results and did not positively impact his approval rating recovery.
