[Seoul District News] Last Week, Gwangjin-gu Confirmed Cases Averaged 297 per Day, an 89% Increase from the Previous Week... Weekend and Holiday Emergency Duty, Proactive Measures Including Infection Control Consulting for Vulnerable Facilities
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has initiated an inspection of the quarantine system to proactively respond to the resurgence of COVID-19.
Last week (7.11.~7.17.), the average daily number of confirmed cases in Gwangjin-gu was 297, an 89% increase compared to the previous week's average of 157 cases per day during the same period.
In response, Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, visited the public health center's screening clinic, vaccination room, and medical quarantine situation room in sequence to inspect the quarantine system.
During this visit, Mayor Kim thoroughly reviewed the COVID-19 response procedures and measures such as reinforcing epidemiological investigation personnel, and took time to encourage the staff.
He also urged for flawless operation of ▲COVID-19 screening clinics ▲epidemiological investigations ▲classification of confirmed cases for home treatment and hospital bed allocation ▲transportation of confirmed cases ▲call center consultations to prevent further spread of COVID-19.
The district has organized emergency duty teams on weekends and holidays to detect confirmed cases early and prevent group outbreaks, monitoring COVID-19 in real time.
Additionally, to proactively respond, the district is doing its best in quarantine management by conducting infection control consulting for facilities vulnerable to infection among high-risk groups such as the elderly.
For a safe and healthy daily life, the district urged residents to ▲thoroughly practice personal hygiene such as hand washing ▲wear masks indoors ▲ventilate at least three times a day ▲and participate in the fourth vaccination for those aged 60 and above.
Mayor Kim Kyung-ho of Gwangjin-gu said, “The recent spread of infection is attributed to increased movement during the summer vacation season and insufficient ventilation caused by prolonged use of air conditioning in enclosed indoor spaces,” adding, “Please strictly follow the basic quarantine rules for a healthy daily life.”
