Jindo-gun Supports 50% of Passenger Ferry Fares for All Residents

Entire Jodomyeon Routes Included...Reducing Residents' Burden of Maritime Transportation Costs

Jindo-gun Supports 50% of Passenger Ferry Fares for All Residents

[Jindo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, has been offering a 50% discount on passenger ferry fares operating to Jodo-myeon for all residents of the county starting this month.

The support target is residents registered in Jindo-gun; when purchasing tickets, presenting an ID such as a resident registration card allows them to receive the fare discount benefit.

Through the ‘County Residents Passenger Ferry Fare Support’ program, Jindo-gun signed a technical support agreement with the Korea Shipping Association and established the ‘Jindo County Residents Passenger Ferry Fare Support Management System’ to alleviate the maritime transportation cost burden for Jindo residents traveling to and from the islands.

The discounted passenger ferries include all ferries operating within Jodo-myeon, such as Saeseomdure-ho, Hallim Ferry 11-ho, Gasa Ferry-ho, and Seomsarang 9-ho, 10-ho, and 13-ho.

Kim Hee-su, Jindo County Governor, stated, “By supporting ferry fares operating to Jodo-myeon not only for island residents but also for Jindo residents, we expect to reduce the maritime transportation cost burden for county residents,” adding, “This is anticipated to promote island tourism use and contribute to revitalizing island development.”

Meanwhile, island residents currently living in Jodo-myeon, Jindo-gun, use passenger ferries operating within the area as maritime public transportation at a fare of 1000 won through the ‘Island Residents Passenger Ferry Fare Support’ and ‘1000 Won Passenger Ferry Fare Support’ programs.
