[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] On the 18th, the Ttangkkeut Sunrye Literature Museum in Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it has established itself as a hub for the promotion of humanities in Haenam through high-quality annual citizen education programs and diverse literary events.

The Ttangkkeut Sunrye Literature Museum is a public literature museum located in Yeondong-ri, Haenam-eup, Haenam-gun. It opened at the end of 2017 to establish the literary history of Haenam, inherit literary traditions, and systematically preserve and manage works and literary materials of local writers.

It operates a permanent exhibition hall and a special exhibition hall displaying the history and flow of Haenam literature, personal effects, and literary achievements of representative modern poets from Haenam such as Lee Dong-ju, Park Seong-ryong, Kim Nam-ju, and Ko Jeong-hee, as well as a book cafe.

In particular, the Ttangkkeut Sunrye Literature Museum runs high-level literary creation classes every year by inviting active writers and professional instructors as part of its regular education programs, receiving great responses.

This year as well, it operates literary classes for general adults such as “Poet Lee Dae-heum and Poetry; talk”, “Novels Meet Movies”, and “Essay Writing Class”, and is successfully conducting the “Children’s Poet School”, which dispatches children’s literature writers directly to schools to enhance children’s humanities sensitivity.

The achievements of students who participated in the programs are also visible. Kim Yeon-ah, who participated in poetry creation education for several years, was honored with the Newcomer Award at the 11th Simho Literature Awards last year, and children from the “Children’s Poet School” also stood out by winning the top and excellence awards in the elementary school division at national writing contests and creative children’s poetry competitions.

Moreover, as a cradle of humanities accessible to all citizens and a complex cultural space, the museum pursues diverse changes, going beyond a simple exhibition space to become a place for enjoying culture and arts and a living literature museum communicating with citizens.

An official from the county stated, “As the Ttangkkeut Sunrye Literature Museum has established itself as a hub for the promotion of humanities in Haenam, its excellent operational cases have become advanced study targets for other local governments and institutions,” adding, “We will continue to aim for more diverse programs and substantial museum operations so that Haenam can be reborn as a happy humanities promotion city where cultural life permeates the daily lives of the local community.”
