[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Employees of a real estate sales dormitory who were sentenced to prison for confining and mistreating a man in his 20s have appealed the first trial verdict.

According to the Seoul Southern District Court on the 18th, six people including Park (28), who were indicted on charges of special imprisonment, submitted an appeal to the Criminal Division 13 of the Southern District Court (Chief Judge Lee Sang-joo), which handled the first trial.

Earlier, the court sentenced Park to six years in prison on the 14th, and his accomplice and wife, Won (23), was sentenced to four years in prison. Other accomplices Kim (23) and Choi (26) were sentenced to three years in prison, Oh (21) and Seo (17) to two years and six months, and Yoo (31) to two years in prison, respectively.

However, Seo, who held the lowest position within the sales agency team, was given a four-year suspended sentence along with 120 hours of community service. Seo was confirmed not to have submitted an appeal this time. The prosecution has also not appealed yet.

Among them, Park and Choi submitted their appeals on the 15th, the day after the first trial sentencing, while Won, Kim, Oh, and Yoo submitted theirs on the 18th.

They were tried on charges of causing serious injury by forcing Kim (21), a man in his 20s who escaped from a dormitory created for real estate sales in a villa in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, at around 10:08 a.m. on January 9, to jump after harsh mistreatment.

The victim Kim entered the dormitory after seeing posts such as "Providing shelter and meals for runaways" posted on social networking services (SNS) by Won, the spouse of Team Leader Park, in September last year.

Kim attempted to escape three times afterward but was caught and returned each time. He was subjected to harsh treatment including head shaving, being doused with cold water, assault, and tape binding. On the day of the incident, it is known that he fell while trying to cross from the veranda to an external roof.
