Studio Mir Partners with Warner Bros... "Full CGI Debuts in DC Animation"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Studio Mir announced on the 18th that a 60-second trailer for the DC Comics animation "Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons" (hereinafter referred to as "Super Sons"), which it co-produced after signing a contract with Warner Bros. in the first half of this year, has been released. Warner Bros. is a U.S. film production and distribution company that holds the rights to DC Comics.

The animation "Super Sons," featuring the sons of heroes who appeared in previous works as the main characters, breaks away from the traditional 2D animation approach and is produced as the first full CGI animation in DC Comics history. Studio Mir expects this "Super Sons" animation to be the first case verifying its full CGI 3D animation production capabilities in the global market.

CGI (Full Computer Generated Imagery) is a more advanced production method than the well-known CG (Computer Graphic). It refers to three-dimensional computer graphics that create and express images entirely through computer work to realize things that do not exist in the real world, such as Batman and Star Wars.

A Studio Mir representative stated, "We have verified hybrid animation technologies combining 2D and 3D through numerous projects released on global OTT platforms. Since 'Super Sons,' a hero series with a strong worldwide fan base, is the first full CGI 3D animation in DC Comics history, we hope this project will serve as a great opportunity for Korean animation production capabilities to gain more attention in the global market."

Preparing for an IPO (Initial Public Offering) in the second half of this year, Studio Mir is a leading domestic animation production studio established in 2010. It has overseen planning and production of major works that have achieved box office success in the global market, including "Dota 2: Dragon's Blood," "The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf," "Koji Pilot," "Bard: Mountain," "Korra's Legend," and "Voltron: Legendary Defender." In 2019, it was the only Korean animation studio to sign a long-term contract with Netflix, gaining recognition for its technical expertise.
