[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulsan City is preparing measures to respond to the resurgence of COVID-19.
On the 18th at 2:30 PM, the city will hold an emergency quarantine countermeasure meeting to prepare for the COVID-19 resurgence, chaired by Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, at the Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters Situation Room on the 4th floor of the City Hall Annex 2.
This emergency quarantine countermeasure meeting was organized to establish response strategies and inspect the medical quarantine system in preparation for the COVID-19 resurgence, with participation from city and district/county officials, quarantine expert advisory groups, and infectious disease management support teams.
The meeting will proceed with a report on the COVID-19 occurrence trends, followed by discussions with the quarantine expert advisory group on ▲resurgence response measures ▲quarantine management plans for the summer vacation season ▲establishment of COVID-19 voluntary quarantine measures, as well as community transmission blocking strategies and contingency plans for a surge in confirmed cases.
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom stated, “We must thoroughly review the COVID-19 resurgence response strategies to minimize the damage to citizens caused by COVID-19,” and added, “With the summer holiday season approaching, we ask for strengthened promotion activities for the 4th COVID-19 vaccination and the maintenance of a thorough emergency quarantine system.”
The trend of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Ulsan City is similar to the nationwide trend, showing a doubling phenomenon (the number of confirmed cases doubling) for two consecutive weeks. The main causes of the increase are identified as the spread of the BA.5 variant, which has a high possibility of immune evasion, decreased natural immunity, and increased mobility during the summer season.
