Reading platform 'Geumeum' recommended by Jang Kang-myeong offers free book distribution


[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The online book club platform ‘Geumeum’ announced on the 17th that it will provide eight types of the ‘Beach Reading Series’ free of charge to 160 readers in collaboration with publishing companies in the Busan area.


The ‘Beach Reading Series’ is a series of single-volume books started by seven small and medium-sized publishers in the Busan area. It covers various genres, from short story collections combining thriller, horror, and SF to essays, humanities, poetry, and comics. All are set in Busan.

(Indiepaper · written by Hamataeng).


Readers who want to read these books can visit the Geumeum website by the 25th and write the title of the book they want to read and a brief reason in one line in the ‘Beach Reading Series Application Group.’ Anyone interested can participate.


Geumeum and the Busan publishers will select 20 readers for each book and send the books by the end of July. Readers who receive the books will read them over 29 days and then post a brief review on the Geumeum website. Geumeum is an online space where anyone can participate and discuss books, currently operating in open beta. Author Jang Gangmyeong, who is involved in the operation, said, “I still think that readers who read books are like the waning moon of civilization,” adding, “If we disappear, darkness will come.”
