[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held a ‘Dongdaemun-gu Ambassador Appointment Ceremony’ on the morning of the 18th at 10 a.m. in the mayor’s office on the 5th floor of the district office to appoint actress Choi Wan-jung as a promotional ambassador.
The district appointed actress Choi Wan-jung, who is active in various fields, as a promotional ambassador to efficiently promote district administration and enhance the district’s status.
Actress Choi Wan-jung has appeared as a supporting actress in various works such as ‘Ladies of the Palace’, ‘The King and I’, and ‘Graceful Family’, becoming familiar to viewers. However,
she suffered from depression and insomnia due to a sudden hiatus, and to overcome this, she started stair climbing exercises and lost 10kg.
Afterwards, she participated in fitness competitions, winning three titles at the Muscle & Model Asia Championship. In addition, she founded the Korea Stair Climbing and Walking Association and currently serves as its president. She has appeared on various TV programs such as ‘Morning Yard’ and ‘Good Morning’, continuing diverse activities as a health ambassador.
Choi Wan-jung will participate in various festivals, events, and campaigns held in the district to contribute to promoting community harmony and revitalizing cultural tourism.
Choi Wan-jung expressed her feelings on being appointed as an ambassador, saying, “As a resident of Dongdaemun-gu, I will take responsibility and work hard to promote our district to many people.”
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “Appointing our resident actress Choi Wan-jung as a promotional ambassador is expected to greatly help promote Dongdaemun-gu,” and added, “I ask her to continue to contribute to enhancing community harmony through her positive influence.”
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) will conduct live commerce, a real-time online market, to expand online sales channels and increase sales for merchants in traditional markets.
Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, non-face-to-face shopping through online channels has become popular. To strengthen the competitiveness of traditional markets in the region, the district decided to participate in live commerce starting this year.
The live commerce participants include four locations: Gyeongdong Market Ginseng Cooperative, Gyeongdong Market Youth Mall, Cheongnyangni General Market, and Dapsimni Hyundai Market. The live commerce will be broadcast live eight times through Naver Shopping Live, supported by the portal site Naver.
On the 11th, the broadcast of Gyeongdong Market Ginseng Cooperative was aired, and live commerce broadcasts for Gyeongdong Market Youth Mall, Cheongnyangni General Market, and Dapsimni Hyundai Market will follow.
Broadcasts for various stores in Gyeongdong Market Youth Mall will be held on the 18th, 25th, and August 12th. Live commerce broadcasts for Cheongnyangni General Market, which sells various fruits, nuts, and food products, will be held on the 22nd, 29th, and August 8th. The broadcast for Dapsimni Hyundai Market will be on August 1st, selling products such as gopchang (beef intestines), jokbal (pig’s feet), and sushi. All broadcasts will be held at 6 p.m.
Traditional market live commerce broadcasts can be viewed by accessing the Naver app on a smartphone, searching for ‘Shopping Live’, and then searching for the market name on the corresponding page. Anyone with a smartphone can watch the broadcasts anytime, and viewers during the live broadcast can receive benefits such as free shipping.
So Han-ju, Director of the Economic Promotion Division, said, “Through this live commerce, we aim to improve nationwide recognition of traditional markets in the region and strengthen their competitiveness in the online market. As the trend of untact consumption through online channels expands recently, we will continue various supports so that affordable and high-quality products from traditional markets can be easily traded online.”
