Gyeongbuk Superintendent of Education Lim Jong-sik Encourages Student Athletes Participating in Provincial Sports Festival
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] The Gyeongbuk Office of Education announced that from the 15th to the 18th, a total of 3,600 student athletes (3,162 students and 438 officials) will participate in 25 events at the 60th Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival, promoting harmony and friendly competition among cities and counties.
This 60th Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival will be held in Pohang for the first time in three years since COVID-19, under the theme "Hope Light Wings, Pohang." The event will proceed with the opening declaration by Superintendent Lim Jong-sik of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, a welcoming speech by Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang, and congratulatory addresses by Kim Ha-young, Chairman of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Sports Council, and Governor Lee Cheol-woo.
Various attractions such as the Arirang of Hope and drone light shows, along with congratulatory performances by top domestic popular singers, will also be featured.
Officials from the Gyeongbuk Office of Education and the Education Support Office will be stationed on-site during the event to inspect and support the venues to prevent safety accidents and COVID-19 infections among the student athletes participating in the competition.
Superintendent Lim Jong-sik expressed his hope that "this 60th Provincial Sports Festival will become a festival of harmony for all residents, including student athletes, and urged them to fully demonstrate the skills they have honed over time."
