First in Gyeongbuk Province's Local Governments on the 15th... Annual 7 Billion KRW Purchase Business Agreement Signed
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk Province has signed a business agreement with the domestic large retail company Homeplus to expand sales of agricultural and specialty products, becoming the first city/county in Gyeongbuk to do so.
On the 15th, at the city hall auditorium, the business agreement was held with the participation of Yeongju Mayor Park Nam-seo, Homeplus Product Division Head Kim Woong, related officials, and local small business owners. The main point of the agreement is that Homeplus will purchase 7 billion KRW worth of Yeongju agricultural and specialty products annually.
Through this agreement, Yeongju City and Homeplus promised to seek a strategic partnership including ▲expanding transactions of carefully selected excellent products from Yeongju and supporting stable sales channels ▲actively utilizing Homeplus's online and offline distribution networks for promotional sales cooperation.
Following the business agreement, a product evaluation meeting was held for companies hoping to enter Homeplus, providing new sales channel opportunities for local agricultural and commercial businesses.
The evaluation meeting involved 23 companies with 58 items including apples, red ginseng products, soy milk, processed balloon flower root products, ramie fabric, eggs, and meal kits, assessing the taste and marketability of excellent local agricultural and specialty products and processed goods.
On the morning of the event, Kim Woong and his delegation from Homeplus's Product Division visited Punggi Nonghyup APC, Yeongju Logistics Agricultural Corporation, Deulpul Agricultural Corporation, and Punggi Ginseng Corporation Agricultural Cooperative to directly check the status and production processes of Yeongju's representative agricultural and specialty products such as apples, Korean beef, eggs, and ginseng.
Kim Woong, Head of the Product Division, said, “We hope to expand the supply of fresh and safe agricultural and specialty products to enhance customer satisfaction and contribute to the sustainable development of Yeongju's agricultural distribution.” He added, “I am confident that today's agreement will become a solid sales channel for local merchants and a great opportunity for the city and Homeplus to grow together.”
Mayor Park Nam-seo said, “This agreement will create positive synergy effects such as strengthening the competitiveness of the region's representative specialty products, developing differentiated products, and supporting sales channels.” He added, “We expect it to breathe new vitality into the agricultural distribution ecosystem and become a stepping stone for a great leap forward in Yeongju agriculture's future.”
Homeplus operates 135 large discount stores nationwide, 332 Express stores, 235 365 Plus stores, Homeplus Bakery, service products (insurance, telecommunications, travel, credit cards, etc.), and six online shopping mall business sectors.
