‘UiseongONna: Youth Login Uiseong’ 1st Term Operation
‘How About Here? We’re Now in Yeongju!’ Scheduled to Operate
Experience the real return-to-farming and return-to-village life in Yeongju, Gyeongbuk with 'Eussya Eussya, Youth!'.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Gyeongbuk Province is recently promoting various policies to secure living population in response to the spread of telecommuting, lifestyle changes such as 4do3chon, and to revitalize the region amid population decline.
4do3chon means "living 4 days in the city and 3 days in the countryside."
As part of these policies, a ‘Try Living’ program utilizing local resources, the 1 City/County - 1 Living (Relationship) Population Special Project, is being operated.
Through a city/county contest held last April, Yeongju and Uiseong were selected and the project is being actively promoted.
Uiseong started operating the first session of ‘Uiseong ON Na: Youth Login Uiseong’ for two weeks from the 4th to the 17th.
Nine young people gathered from Seoul, Gyeonggi, Daegu, and other areas are participating in various programs to get to know Uiseong, such as exploring local attractions, experiencing smart farms and farm stays, and meeting young entrepreneurs active in the region.
Participants expressed satisfaction as they could hear vivid experiences and practical advice from local residents through on-site experiences that can only be felt there. Among the participants, two conveyed their intention to settle in Uiseong in the future by linking with startup and agricultural startup support projects.
The second session of Youth Login Uiseong is planned to be expanded to about 20 people for two weeks starting from the 23rd of this month, and recruitment is currently underway.
From August to October, a farm stay-style rural living experience called ‘Hometown of Koreans Abroad’ targeting foreign students and workers residing in Korea, and ‘Flower Middle-aged Backpacking in Uiseong’ allowing middle-aged people to experience rural life will be sequentially promoted.
Applications can be submitted by filling out and submitting the application form through the Uiseong County website or Instagram.
Yeongju will conduct ‘How about here? We are now Yeongju!’ where participants can interact with local residents and explore opportunities for startups, new jobs, and employment under the theme of 4do3chon, and ‘Eussa Eussa, Youth!’ which allows participants to feel practical farming and rural living experiences through a month-long stay at resting places, living spaces, and workplaces.
From the 1st of next month, applicants will be recruited through Yeongju City’s website, blog, Instagram, and other channels.
Selected participants through document screening and pre-education will engage in activities from September to November according to each program.
Kim Hoseop, Director of the Child and Women’s Happiness Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “I hope participants will see, hear, and feel many things while staying in our region, understand the area a little more, and become closer to it.” He added, “We will focus on discovering differentiated try-living models by region to revitalize the living population and enhance regional vitality.”
