Fan Club Political Remarks Mistaken for Mrs. Kim's Statement
Yoon: Better to Communicate with the Party Than Not
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Former lawmaker Na Kyung-won pointed out on the 13th that "First Lady Kim Keon-hee's fan club is very annoying," identifying it as one of the factors behind President Yoon Suk-yeol's declining approval ratings.
In an interview with MBC Radio that day, when asked whether First Lady Kim was a factor in the drop in approval ratings, Na said, "That is also pointed out as a factor," while criticizing the behavior of the fan club.
Na said, "(The fan club) makes too many political statements, which can be mistaken as statements from the First Lady herself," adding, "Fortunately, yesterday, the First Lady stated that the fan club's remarks are not related to her and that she has not contacted them since the photo controversy. I thought it would have been better if she had drawn the line a little earlier."
Regarding the fact that after the disciplinary action against Representative Lee Jun-seok, President Yoon and Representative Kwon Seong-dong, acting party leader and floor leader, met separately and then had dinner with lawmakers Lee Cheol-gyu, Yoon Han-hong, Na Kyung-won said, "When running the government, coordination with the party is necessary," and viewed that not meeting could be more problematic.
Na said, "Active communication is very important, but if it is reported in the media, it might appear inappropriate."
She added, "The president should also seek advice," saying, "Since politics in Yeouido is important, he inevitably has to communicate with the so-called 'Yoon core group'." Na reiterated, "It is better to communicate than not to, but I think it should not be reported in the media."
