The day before, Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that small organisms presumed to be larvae were found in the activated carbon filter bed at the Gwanggyo Water Purification Plant. After chironomid larvae were recently discovered at a water purification plant in Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, an emergency inspection was conducted at the Gwanggyo Water Purification Plant, where small organisms were found. Suwon City sent the small organisms to the National Institute of Biological Resources for testing.
