[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] The Korean Record Challenge 198-Hole Ironman Golf Tournament, held from the 18th to the 20th, is just 5 days away, drawing attention to the challengers' attempts to set new records.
Hosted by Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters and organized by Jeje Band, the "1st Asia Economy Honam·Jeje Ironman Golf Tournament" is a competition to complete 198 holes over 3 days.
Starting with 72 holes at Ora CC in Jeju on the 18th, followed by 54 holes at Booyoung CC on the 19th, and concluding with another 72-hole round at Ora CC on the final day, the 20th.
Over 3 days, playing 15 hours each day, totaling 45 hours, 11 rounds, and 198 holes, 48 participants have registered to complete the challenge. This tournament is undergoing record verification by the Korea Records Institute and aims to set the Korean record for the "Longest Duration Golf Marathon Team Category."
On the final day, the 20th, Kim Moo-sung, former leader of the Saenuri Party, and Lee Seung-ah, Chairperson of the Jeju Provincial Council's Culture, Tourism, and Sports Committee, will attend the completion ceremony to congratulate the successful record and present certificates of completion.
Among the 48 challengers, 36 are men and 12 are women. The oldest challenger is Yu Kyung-sun (67), and the oldest female challenger is Hwang Sook-hee (62).
The youngest challenger is 10 years and 7 months old, Oh Sae-hyun, a 4th grader at Daheul Elementary School. He and his father, Oh Young-min (42), have applied as a father-son team, making their completion status the biggest topic of this Ironman Golf Tournament.
This extreme self-limit challenge will be broadcast live and recorded by "Malro Buddy," Jeju's largest golf YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, if the 198-hole completion challenge is successful, the Korea Records Institute plans to award an official highest record certificate to the organizers on site.
