[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Haitai Confectionery announced on the 13th that its snack factory built in Asan, Chungnam has entered full-scale production.
The Asan factory was completed two months ahead of schedule and was built on a 14,000㎡ (approximately 4,300 pyeong) site in Eumbong-myeon, Asan-si, Chungnam. Excluding the land, a total budget of 45 billion KRW was invested. It is an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-type state-of-the-art snack factory applying eco-friendly technology.
Haitai Confectionery held a completion ceremony the day before and began full-scale production. About 300 people attended the ceremony, including Yoon Young-dal, Chairman of Crown Haitai, Shin Jeong-hoon, CEO of Haitai Confectionery, and Lee Tae-gyu, Vice Mayor of Asan City. The Asan factory produces Haitai Confectionery’s main products such as Home Run Ball, Ace, and French Pie. The maximum annual production capacity is worth 220 billion KRW. With the completion of this factory, Haitai Confectionery now has an annual snack production capacity exceeding 1 trillion KRW.
This is the first time in 30 years that Haitai Confectionery has built a new snack factory since the Cheonan factory. Production facilities for main products previously located in Cheonan, Gwangju, and Daegu factories have been consolidated in Asan, in the central region. This has more than doubled logistics efficiency for nationwide distribution of produced goods.
The Asan factory was built as an eco-friendly snack factory applying the latest technology. A solar power generation facility covering 2,800 pyeong was installed on the roof, and a low-NOx eco-friendly boiler is planned to reduce carbon dioxide emissions during factory operations by half. Equipment such as air compressors uses highly efficient energy-saving utilities to reduce electricity consumption by more than 20%, and the latest filtering facilities are applied to perfectly separate pollutants in advance, discharging only safe wastewater. Additionally, an eco-friendly process will be added to the Home Run Ball production line, and starting from October, eco-friendly material trays will replace plastic trays for Home Run Ball.
A Haitai Confectionery official said, "The completion of the Asan factory signifies laying a solid foundation that will lead Haitai Confectionery’s new leap forward," adding, "The stable production system for main products has been completed, and logistics efficiency has been greatly enhanced, enabling us to secure higher market competitiveness."
