[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Namyang Dairy Products announced on the 13th that it has signed a joint research agreement with Yonsei University Severance Hospital to strengthen the ingredients of the special formula milk 'Ketonia.'
Namyang Dairy's Ketonia is a special formula milk that can help children with epilepsy and is the world's first liquid ketogenic diet. It was developed through collaboration between the research team of Professor Kim Heung-dong of Yonsei University, recognized as a global authority in ketogenic diet research since 2002, and Namyang Dairy's researchers.
Through joint research, Namyang Dairy and Severance Hospital will over the next year compare and evaluate by cross-feeding Ketonia products with enhanced C10 fatty acid (capric acid) ratios and existing products. After completing clinical evaluations, they plan to process statistical results and present academic findings by December next year.
Lee Ki-woong, head of Namyang Dairy's Central Research Institute, said, "The ketogenic diet has been confirmed to have various functions, including recovery meals for cancer patients as well as epilepsy, and has recently gained attention as a weight control diet," adding, "We will continue efforts to enter new markets such as patient meals through this research."
