‘Nim-ui Chimmuk National Writing Contest’ to be Held on the 13th of Next Month at Manhae Village, Gangwon-do


[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The 11th "Silence of the Dear Nationwide Writing Contest" will be held on the 13th of next month at the Manhae Village Square in Yongdae-ri, Buk-myeon, Inje-gun, Gangwon-do.


The "Silence of the Dear Nationwide Writing Contest" was established to honor the literary spirit of Manhae Han Yong-un, a poet and independence activist. It is hosted by Gangwon-do, Inje-gun, the Manhae Ideology Practice Promotion Association, Dongguk University, and Chosun Ilbo, and organized by the Inje Newspaper under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The contest is divided into poetry (si, sijo) and prose categories. The topics will be announced on the day of the event, and winners will be selected after subsequent judging.


The awards are as follows: ▲ Grand Prize (1 person) - Governor of Gangwon-do Award and a prize of 2,000,000 KRW ▲ Second Prize (1 person) - Inje County Governor Award and a prize of 1,000,000 KRW ▲ Third Prize (1 person) - Chairman of Inje County Council Award and a prize of 500,000 KRW ▲ Encouragement Prize (3 persons) - Inje Newspaper Representative Award and a prize of 100,000 KRW each.


Anyone nationwide can participate regardless of age, gender, or region. Those wishing to participate can download the application form (free of charge) from the Inje Newspaper website, fill it out, and submit it via email from the 15th of this month until the 12th of next month. The announcement of winners and the award ceremony schedule will be notified after the event.


An event official stated, "Manhae Han Yong-un personally resisted Japanese colonial aggression to the extent that he built his house facing north, opposite the Government-General of Korea, instead of south. We hope many citizens with meaningful intentions will participate and support this event to honor his patriotism and reflect on his influence on Korean literature."
