Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, will hold the 'Dialogue with Residents for the 8th Elected Term' from July 12 to 23 to listen to local public opinion and reflect it in district administration.

The dialogue with residents, held about two weeks after the launch of the 8th elected term, reflects Mayor Oh Eon-seok’s strong will to take the first step of the 8th term together with the residents.

In particular, this dialogue was held in the evening and on weekends to encourage participation from office workers, students, and youth who usually find it difficult to voice their opinions in district administration, thereby broadening resident participation.

The first dialogue with residents in Banghak 1-dong on July 12 (photo) was conducted in a comfortable conversational format to inform residents about the 8th term policy vision, “Together! Change, Growth, Future,” and to hear various opinions from residents.

On that day, Mayor Oh Eon-seok reported on the progress of local issues such as the GTX-C Dobong section electrification. Residents then expressed opinions on installing escalators at Banghak Station and the maintenance of Jungnangcheon Stream. The mayor and department heads responded to residents’ opinions and explained future plans.

Suggestions on various local issues and inconveniences raised during the ‘Dialogue with Residents’ will be reviewed by the relevant departments and reflected in district administration as much as possible.

The dialogues will be held across all 14 neighborhoods of Dobong-gu in the following order: ▲ July 12 Banghak 1-dong (evening, Resident Center Hakdungji Cafe) ▲ July 13 Dobong 2-dong (Miracle Library), Chang 5-dong (evening, Resident Center Auditorium) ▲ July 14 Ssangmun 3-dong (Resident Center Auditorium), Chang 2-dong (evening, Resident Center Auditorium) ▲ July 16 Chang 1-dong (Saturday, Resident Center Auditorium) ▲ July 19 Ssangmun 1-dong (Resident Center Auditorium), Ssangmun 4-dong (Resident Center Auditorium) ▲ July 20 Chang 4-dong (Resident Center Auditorium) ▲ July 21 Chang 3-dong (Resident Center Auditorium), Ssangmun 2-dong (Nonghyup Auditorium) ▲ July 22 Dobong 1-dong (Resident Center Auditorium), Banghak 2-dong (Resident Center Auditorium) ▲ July 23 Banghak 3-dong (Saturday, Resident Center Auditorium).

Mayor Oh Eon-seok said, “We arranged the dialogues in the evening and on weekends so residents can participate even after work. We want to hear the changes and wishes residents truly want for Dobong-gu and various opinions about the district office. I believe the site is the starting point and solution for issues directly related to residents’ lives. I will continue to be a mayor who listens attentively to even the smallest voices of residents and stays with them.”

Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, held the first expanded executive meeting of the 8th elected term on the 12th at the 5th-floor auditorium of the district office, presiding over the meeting.

The meeting was attended by a total of 81 people, including heads of departments and divisions at the main office, heads of 15 neighborhoods, and related institution heads. They reviewed current issues and ongoing projects by department and discussed the direction of district administration for the 8th term.

Mayor Park Il-ha first emphasized prioritizing residents’ safety by strengthening disaster and safety management proactively in preparation for summer heatwaves and heavy rains.

In accordance with the government’s COVID-19 summer resurgence response plan to be announced on the 13th, the district established response plans including infection control at vulnerable facilities and strengthened summer disinfection measures.

He then requested that efficient working methods be devised to lead and smoothly implement the fulfillment plans for campaign promises. He asked for consideration of ‘Dongjak-gu-type’ projects in areas such as jobs and emphasized the need for a new paradigm in childcare and welfare systems aligned with government directions.

Furthermore, he stressed the importance of strengthening publicity so that residents can tangibly feel and recognize the projects continuously implemented by the district through active participation of staff.

Finally, he urged, “In line with the changed policy direction, all staff should unite and work with a sense of mission to make Dongjak a place where residents can feel pride.”

Under the new slogan “Working Dongjak, New Change,” the district is focusing on creating new changes such as extending the no-parking enforcement exemption during lunchtime and promoting the installation of left-turn and U-turn lanes at the intersection near Sinsangdo Elementary School.
