Suncheon-si 'Youth Parent Childcare Support Pilot Project' Operation

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu) announced on the 12th that it is accepting applications for the 'Youth Parent Childcare Support Pilot Project.'

This project is a pilot program first operated by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, providing 200,000 KRW per child per month for six months to households where the parents raising children are youths.

The project was initiated to reduce the childcare burden on youth parents through childcare support and to promote the growth of the youth themselves and the stability of their families.

After this pilot project, the results will be analyzed to determine whether to continue the project in the future.

Youth parent childcare support is available to parents who were both born after June 1, 1997, are actually raising at least one child, and are in a legal or de facto marital relationship.

Additionally, applicants must meet the income criteria of 60% or less of the median income to be eligible for support.

Applications can be submitted by family members or representatives by visiting the Eup, Myeon, or Dong administrative welfare centers.

A Suncheon city official stated, “We expect this to alleviate the childcare burden on youth parent households, which have been excluded from previous childcare support for single youth parents, and to promote the growth of the youth themselves and family stability, thereby addressing blind spots. Since the pilot project will end at the end of this year and support prior to the application date cannot be paid retroactively, we ask that you apply promptly.”
