[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The opposition party strongly opposed the government's appointment of the Financial Services Commission chairman, saying, "They ignored the opposition's demand to conduct a proper confirmation hearing as soon as the negotiation for the parliamentary organization proceeds."

Park Hong-geun, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated at the National Assembly floor leaders' meeting on the 12th, "President Yoon Seok-yeol once again bypassed the confirmation hearing and forcibly appointed the Financial Services Commission chairman. This is already the fourth time, following the appointments of the National Tax Service chief, Minister of Education, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, that appointments have been forced without hearings or verification."

He pointed out, "Among the nine ministers appointed without hearings since 2000, four were appointed within two months of the Yoon administration's start," adding, "The Financial Services Commission chairman has the dishonor of being the first to be appointed without proper expertise verification."

He continued, "Even the ruling party should step up to prevent abnormal situations," and argued, "Since the Speaker of the National Assembly arranged a meeting between the floor leaders of both parties today, it can no longer be delayed."

Additionally, Park criticized the Ministry of Justice for forming the Prosecutor General candidate recommendation committee. He said, "While appointments of heads of other power institutions are pushed through quickly like military operations, and even unprecedented positions are given to prosecutors close to the administration, the appointment of the Prosecutor General is delayed," adding, "In the meantime, Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon has carried out a sweeping personnel reshuffle in the prosecution and placed many pro-Yoon prosecutors in key positions."

He added, "There is even a joke that the Yoon administration, ruled by 'President Han Dong-hoon,' has turned the prosecution into a hierarchical society ranked as pro-Yoon, true Yoon, broad Yoon, anti-Yoon, and non-Yoon," and stated, "I hope the Prosecutor General recommendation committee takes all these situations as a lesson and dedicates itself to recommending a Prosecutor General who meets the expectations of the people."
