[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] KT announced on the 12th that it held the '2022 Artificial Intelligence (AI) One Team General Meeting.'
The AI One Team is an AI collaboration body consisting of 12 industry-academia-research institutions, formed since February 2020 with the aim of making South Korea the number one AI nation. Participating organizations in the AI One Team include Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, LG Electronics, Korea Investment & Securities, Dongwon Group, Woori Bank, Hanjin, GC, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Hanyang University, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Sungkyunkwan University, among others. AI collaboration is conducted in three divisions: AI technology and business cooperation, AI Eco, and AI talent development.
The event, held on the afternoon of the 11th at LG Electronics R&D Campus in Seocho-dong, Seoul, was themed 'Creating Value through AI.' It shared the progress of cooperation since the launch of the AI One Team, cases of creating new value through AI projects, and the cooperative tasks pursued this year by each division.
In the technology and business cooperation division, KT, KAIST, Hanyang University, and ETRI have been jointly developing a 'super-large AI' model since last year, with plans to expand the 'super-large AI' to a 200 billion parameter scale model this year. Additionally, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, Dongwon Group, and KT announced that they will continue to promote industry-academia-research AI cooperation projects to solve corporate challenges together with schools and research institutes.
The AI Eco division continues to promote cooperation to revitalize startups and the AI open ecosystem. This year, it is implementing an open innovation program for business cooperation with innovative startups in 10 fields including AI solutions, finance, and manufacturing. Following last year, it plans to carry out the 'Korea AI Startup 100' project again this year to discover future unicorn AI companies. The AI talent development division strives to secure and nurture AI talent jointly among participating organizations.
