General Public Contest: Up to 5 Million KRW, Planning Contest: Up to 10 Million KRW Support
Residents Themselves Identify Local Issues and Develop Solutions
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu) announced on the 11th that it will recruit participants for the second half of this year’s ‘Station Area Urban Regeneration Resident Proposal Contest Project’ targeting the station area (Jogok, Pungdeok, Deokyeon) urban regeneration activation zones.
The resident proposal contest project is promoted to strengthen community cohesion and revitalize the region through a process where residents directly propose urban regeneration ideas and lead the execution.
This contest project is divided into a general contest, where residents discover, plan, and execute urban regeneration project ideas, and a planned contest conducted with a set appropriate theme.
The general contest is divided into ▲community activation ▲culture, tourism, and arts ▲environment ▲economy fields, with up to 5 million KRW supported per project, while the planned contest supports up to 10 million KRW for public interest activities such as village festivals, landscape improvement, and documentation necessary for station area activation.
Applicants such as organizations wishing to apply should prepare required documents including the project plan and submit them by visiting the Station Area Field Support Center or via email by the 13th.
The city plans to select up to nine teams through preliminary education, consulting, and presentation evaluation, and to start the full-scale project from August.
A Suncheon city official said, “This contest project will provide residents with an opportunity to discover local issues themselves and devise solutions,” and added, “We ask for active participation from residents interested in station area activation.”
