Awards for Outstanding Local Governments: Government Honors, Institutional Commendations, Incentives Including Prize Money and Special Grants
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Goryeong County in Gyeongbuk was selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in the '2022 Disaster Management Evaluation' conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
This evaluation is a comprehensive assessment diagnosing the major capabilities at each stage of disaster management (prevention, preparedness, response, recovery) of 335 disaster management responsible organizations including central government ministries, public institutions, and local governments.
In this evaluation, the county received high marks in several indicators such as ▲management of disaster management funds ▲performance in implementing comprehensive earthquake disaster prevention measures ▲mitigation activities by type in the relevant fields ▲maintenance and management of disaster prevention facilities ▲maintenance of response systems for disaster situation management ▲securing and managing disaster relief infrastructure.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety provides incentives such as government awards, institutional commendations, prize money, and special grants to local governments (institutions) with excellent grades in the disaster management evaluation.
Lee Nam-cheol, Goryeong County Governor, said, “Being selected as an excellent institution in this evaluation will serve as an opportunity to further strengthen the county’s disaster management capabilities and we will do our best to ensure the safety of our residents.”
