[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Samsung Electronics announced that it will display outdoor advertisements supporting the bid for the '2030 Busan World Expo' in Suva city and major airports to coincide with the 'Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Summit' held in Suva, the capital of Fiji. The PIF meeting will take place from the 11th to the 14th (local time).
Samsung Electronics wished for the Busan Expo bid through outdoor advertisements on major buildings such as Suva Nausori International Airport, Fiji Central Post Office, and the Suva Grand Pacific Hotel, the venue of the PIF, as well as large electronic billboards installed on Victoria Parade, the city center.
The advertisement featured the Fijian greeting 'Bula' with the message 'Bula from Busan (Busan welcomes you).' Samsung Electronics stated, "It is attracting the attention of PIF participating countries' officials, including those from Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga, as well as local residents."
Samsung Electronics is also promoting the Busan Expo bid to tourists worldwide by placing outdoor advertisements around Nadi International Airport, a major gateway for tourists.
Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong was listed as a member of the 2030 Busan World Expo Bid Committee, which was held on the 8th. In addition to Vice Chairman Lee, the committee includes co-chairmen Choi Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman of SK Group), Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group, Shin Dong-bin, Chairman of Lotte Group, and other government officials. Each major group has been assigned a responsible country, and dedicated organizations within the companies have reportedly been established.
