[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has finalized the blueprint for the direction of district administration for the next four years in the 8th term of the elected government as '6 major strategies and 58 policy tasks.'
On June 13, the district launched a 'Policy Planning Team' to draw an innovative leap roadmap for the 8th term of the elected government, and after the final report meeting on July 8, it selected the implementation tasks of the 8th term pledges reflecting Gwanak's regional conditions and prepared an execution plan (draft).
The core of this 8th term is weighted on youth policies and cultural prosperity projects, and efforts were made to balance the voices of various groups such as vulnerable groups, youth, children, small business owners, foreigners, disabled people, and venture companies.
First, in the economic field of 'Coexistence and Innovation,' based on the achievements of the 7th term, economic policies covering small business owners to venture companies were prepared, including further development of Gwanak S-Valley to Gwanak S-Valley 2.0, establishment of the Gwanak Small and Medium Venture Promotion Center, and revitalization of neighborhood economies.
In the welfare field of 'Inclusive City,' reflecting the highest nationwide rate of single-person households, a detailed welfare system was designed based on spatial welfare such as Happy Single-Person Households, construction of Gwanak Cultural Welfare Town, and expansion of senior welfare facilities. Notably, policies targeting disabled people and foreigners, such as improving mobility rights for the disabled, expanding rights guarantees for people with developmental disabilities, and fostering a multicultural city, attracted attention as directions of the 8th term aiming to embrace everyone.

Policies covering various fields realistically felt by the youth, such as housing, employment, and social participation, include the establishment of a Youth Culture Bureau, operation of Gwanak Youth Center, expansion of youth jobs, housing stability for youth, and support for activating youth social participation activities.
The 'Gwanak Renaissance' premier education and culture sector includes Gwanak-type cultural projects such as 365 daily culture, creation of Gwanak cultural city, and strengthening the Kang Gam-chan brand power, based on the Gwanak Cultural Foundation established in the 7th term. Plans also include strengthening cooperation projects with Seoul National University, revitalizing lifelong learning, and 365 daily sports, utilizing local resources such as Seoul National University and Gwanaksan Mountain for education and sports projects.
The 'Sustainable City' clean and safe living space sector shows Gwanak's efforts to improve living infrastructure and build a safe city through projects such as making Byeolbitnaerincheon a famous spot, restoring Bongcheoncheon ecological stream, creating citizen-friendly waterfront spaces, supporting redevelopment and reconstruction maintenance projects, expanding parking lots, parking lot sharing projects, expanding and upgrading CCTV functions, and ensuring safety on night streets.
Finally, the 'Together Smart Innovation' innovative Gwanak government sector stands out with smart city Gwanak creation using information and communication technology to solve urban problems, cooperative administration, and operation of Gwanak government, emphasizing communication with citizens and collaborative governance to solve local issues together.
Kim Eui-young, head of the Policy Planning Team, said, “The four weeks with many committee members working together to contemplate and discuss Gwanak's future was a meaningful time,” and added, “I hope the pledges of the Policy Planning Team will be further expanded and developed by the district office.”
