Held at Seongju Culture and Arts Center from July 22 to August 21
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] The Seongju-gun Cultural and Arts Center in Gyeongbuk has been selected for the '2022 Exhibition Space Revitalization Support Project' and will hold the photo exhibition 'In Search of Munguridor.'
To commemorate the August 15 Liberation Day, the Seongju Cultural and Arts Center will hold the 'In Search of Munguridor' exhibition from the 22nd of this month to the 21st of next month in the exhibition hall of the Cultural and Arts Center, aiming to recall the traces and spirit of the independence movement scattered around the world.
Munguridor is a Korean word meaning a large stone that is round and smooth without sharp edges. It is a term used in 'Baekbeom Ilji' (The Diary of Baekbeom). When Baekbeom Kim Gu was tortured and forced to confess by Japanese police officers, he vowed, "Even if I die, I will die embracing the spirit of Munguridor, and even if I live, I will fulfill the duties of Munguridor," which is the origin of its meaning.
This photo exhibition is open for group visits on weekday mornings, individual visits on weekday afternoons and weekends, and is closed on Mondays. Visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free.
There will be four sessions on weekdays and four sessions on weekends with professional guides. For more details, please contact the Seongju Cultural and Arts Center.
County Governor Lee Byung-hwan said, "I am pleased that the forgotten history of the domestic and national independence movement can be faced through photos with the residents," and added, "I hope many people visit so that the spirit of Munguridor of Baekbeom Kim Gu will not be forgotten and will continue."
