[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] On the 10th, the highest daytime temperature in Seoul rose to 35.1 degrees Celsius, marking the hottest day of the year so far. This set a new record just a week after the previous high of 34.2 degrees Celsius on the 3rd. Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province (34.7 degrees), Dongducheon City (33.6 degrees), Hapcheon County in Gyeongnam Province (35.0 degrees), and Seogwipo City in Jeju (30.7 degrees) also recorded their highest temperatures of the year.

On this day, Korea was under the edge of a high-pressure system over the East Sea, resulting in clear skies and scorching heat. The Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "Except for the Yeongdong region of Gangwon Province and the eastern coast of Gyeongsang Province, most areas experienced daytime highs of 33 degrees Celsius (with some parts of eastern Gyeonggi, Chungbuk, and inland Gyeongbuk reaching 35 degrees), and the highest apparent temperatures rose to around 35 degrees, making it very hot."

In Sangju City, Gyeongbuk Province, the highest temperature reached 35.8 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature is based on 4 p.m. readings and may change if temperatures rise afterward.

From late night on the 10th until tomorrow, rain is expected in various parts of the country. As a low-pressure trough approaches from the west, the Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts occasional rain in the central region and northern Gyeongbuk starting late night on the 10th. Due to the easterly winds, rain may also fall in the Yeongdong region of Gangwon Province until the morning of the 12th.

In Jeju Island, where a heatwave advisory is in effect, the highest apparent temperature is forecasted to rise to around 33 degrees Celsius, making it very hot. Tropical nights are also expected overnight, mainly in the Jeolla region and Jeju. Even after the rain stops, temperatures will rise again and humidity will remain high, with the highest apparent temperature expected to reach around 31 degrees Celsius.
