[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The Seoul Metropolitan Institute of Health and Environment issued an ozone advisory for downtown Seoul and the southwestern area at 2 p.m. on the 10th.

The affected districts are 10 in total: Jongno-gu, Jung-gu, Yongsan-gu, Yangcheon-gu, Gangseo-gu, Guro-gu, Geumcheon-gu, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Dongjak-gu, and Gwanak-gu.

Seoul issues an advisory when the 1-hour average ozone concentration reaches 0.120 ppm or higher. As of 2 p.m. that day, the highest concentrations by region were 0.124 ppm in the downtown area (Yongsan-gu) and 0.120 ppm in the southwestern area (Gangseo-gu).

High concentrations of ozone can irritate the respiratory system and eyes, causing inflammation, and in severe cases, respiratory disorders. When an ozone advisory is issued, high-risk groups such as the elderly and those with cardiovascular diseases are advised to refrain from outdoor activities as much as possible.
