[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Taemin] As COVID-19 cases rise again, nearly 20,000 new confirmed cases were reported nationwide as of 9 PM on the 8th.
According to Seoul Metropolitan Government and other local governments, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases nationwide from 12 AM to 9 PM on this day was counted at 19,400. This is an increase of 755 cases compared to the previous day.
Compared to last week, the spread is clearly evident. The number of confirmed cases as of 9 PM on this day is 1.9 times higher than a week ago on the 1st. It has tripled compared to two weeks ago on the 24th of last month (6,400 cases).
From the 30th of last month for one week, the daily new confirmed cases were 10,712 → 10,048 → 6,250 → 18,141 → 19,371 → 18,511 → 19,323, averaging 14,622 cases per day.
As of 9 PM on this day, new confirmed cases were 10,481 (59.2%) in the metropolitan area and 7,919 (40.8%) in non-metropolitan areas. By region, confirmed cases were: Gyeonggi 5,534, Seoul 4,903, Gyeongnam 1,095, Incheon 1,044, Chungnam 781, Gyeongbuk 745, Busan 621, Daegu 603, Ulsan 580, Chungbuk 566, Gangwon 546, Jeonbuk 519, Daejeon 504, Jeonnam 477, Jeju 354, Gwangju 352, Sejong 176.
