The elementary and secondary smart learning brand ‘Ice Cream Home Run’ announced on the 8th that about 20,000 students from grades 3 to 6 in elementary school applied within two weeks of launching the content ‘Cells of Mathematics,’ which incorporates ‘Deep Knowledge Tracing (DKT)’ technology.

‘Cells of Mathematics - Together Challenge’ assesses each learner’s problem-solving habits and weak concepts, then forms challenge teams with friends who share the same question types and vulnerabilities. After forming teams, missions are conducted in a game format to accomplish a ‘shared goal’ by the 25th. The missions can be achieved by solving questions related to each individual’s weak concepts that need improvement. When all individually achieved missions are combined to reach the target, the shared goal is accomplished, successfully completing this month’s challenge.

Even while conducting this challenge that requires cooperation, each learner can address their own weaknesses thanks to the ‘DKT (Deep Knowledge Tracing)’ technology jointly researched and developed by ‘Ice Cream Edu’ and ‘Upstage.’ Notably, this technology was recognized at ‘The Web Conf 2022’ held in February this year. At that time, The Web Conf received a record 1,822 paper submissions, but only 323 papers were accepted after a rigorous review process.

DKT technology, or ‘Deep Knowledge Tracing,’ is a technology that tracks a student’s current knowledge level based on various learning data to identify which parts influenced the learner’s current knowledge and what areas are lacking.

An official stated, “Since each student has a different level of knowledge, this serves as a core engine for hyper-personalization that provides ‘customized learning’ based on that. It is not just about solving math problems, but about solving optimized customized questions that can supplement each individual’s weaknesses, enabling rapid academic achievement in a short period.”

Currently, ‘Ice Cream Home Run’ provides AI education services through the ‘AI Life Record’ that analyzes 16 million daily learning big data points to offer 1:1 personalized learning and the AI tutor service ‘Itturu.’ In addition, by integrating DKT technology, they plan to continuously release content that helps students who have fallen behind quickly catch up and allows advanced students to learn more deeply.
