[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On Friday the 8th, rain will fall across the country until the afternoon. Jeonnam, Gyeongnam region, and Jeju are expected to experience heavy rain of up to 20mm per hour until noon.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, from morning to afternoon on this day, strong rain accompanied by gusts of wind, thunder, and lightning with about 20mm per hour will fall mainly in Jeonnam, Gyeongnam, and Jeju. The expected precipitation is 10 to 50mm. Gangwon inland and mountainous areas, Jeonbuk, southern Gyeongbuk, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo are expected to receive 5 to 30mm, while the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, Gangwon East Coast, and northern Gyeongbuk will see around 5mm of rain.

As the cloud band is narrow and moves quickly eastward, the rain will repeatedly start and stop, and some areas will experience temporary breaks. In the Gangwon mountainous area, showers accompanied by thunder and lightning with 5 to 40mm are expected from noon to evening on the 9th.

Although temperatures will temporarily drop as rain falls across most parts of the country, temperatures will rise again once the rain stops, and the heatwave will continue. Due to high humidity, the perceived temperature will rise to a maximum of 33 to 35 degrees Celsius, creating a "steam heat" that will persist through the weekend. Currently, heatwave warnings are in effect in some areas of Sejong, Daegu-Gyeongbuk, Gwangju, Daejeon, Chungbuk, Jeonbuk, and Jeju.

The highest daytime temperatures on the 8th will range from 27 to 34 degrees Celsius. By region, the highest daytime temperatures are Daegu 34°C, Gangneung 33°C, Jeju 33°C, Daejeon 32°C, Gwangju 32°C, Busan 30°C, and Seoul 29°C. The weekend will also be very hot with daytime highs between 27 and 34 degrees Celsius, and some places will experience tropical nights. Due to smooth atmospheric dispersion and the influence of precipitation, fine dust levels are expected to be between "Good" and "Moderate" across all regions.

Until 10 a.m., fog with visibility less than 1km will occur along the West Coast and South Coast, and fog will also thicken near coastal bridges, roads, and island areas, so caution is advised for traffic safety.
