[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] On the 7th, Lee Do-hoon, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a bilateral meeting with Luis Bayas, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador, in Seoul and discussed expanding practical cooperation between the two countries in the economic sector, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
Deputy Minister Lee expressed hope that practical cooperation between the two countries would be further enhanced on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and requested Ecuador's interest and support so that Korean companies could participate in transportation and aviation infrastructure projects such as the operation rights of Manta Airport and the Guayaquil New Airport project in Ecuador.
He also requested active cooperation from the Ecuadorian government so that Busan could host the 2030 World Expo.
Deputy Minister Bayas expressed gratitude to the Korean government for providing various humanitarian aid such as COVID-19 response and support for Venezuelan refugees in Ecuador, and hoped for expanded cooperation between the two countries in investment and trade.
