Direct Rebuttal to the Democratic Party's Objection
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The National Intelligence Service (NIS) clarified that the prosecution of former NIS Director Park Ji-won in connection with the 'West Sea Civilian Killing Incident' is unrelated to the Military Integrated Information Management System (MIMS).
In a statement on the 7th, the NIS explained, "The prosecution is not for deleting documents uploaded to MIMS or managed and distributed through it involving former Director Park and others," adding, "The allegations are completely unrelated to this."
This was a rebuttal to opposition parties' claims that "the NIS prosecuted former Director Park due to a misunderstanding of the MIMS system."
In a statement released to the media the previous afternoon, the NIS had announced, "Following an internal investigation, former Director Park Ji-won and others were reported to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office today on charges including unauthorized deletion of intelligence-related reports concerning the West Sea civilian shooting incident."
