Support for Domestic Contact Lens Testing, Analysis Certification, and Prototype Production
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] The Daegu Catholic University Optical Convergence Technology Project Group participated in the ‘2022 Korea International Advanced Medical Devices and Medical Industry Exhibition’ (KOAMEX) held at Daegu EXCO from the 1st to the 3rd.
The project group exhibited prototypes from companies supported through the ‘Advanced Functional Materials-Based Visual Function Assistance Device Industry Development Project,’ promoting the achievements of active industry-academia-research collaboration with local companies.
They also held a seminar to provide information on smart contact lens technology trends, attracting significant interest from related companies.
Since 2020, Daegu Catholic University has been supporting related companies in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region while carrying out the ‘Visual Function Assistance Device Industry’ project led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
To localize core materials for contact lenses and visual function assistance device products, which are entirely dependent on imports, they are providing testing, analysis, certification support, prototype production, and pilot production support.
Kim Ki-hong, head of the Optical Convergence Technology Project Group, said, “This event was an opportunity to expand exchanges with companies in the contact lens and visual function assistance device fields. We will continue to strengthen the industry-academia-research network to contribute to job creation and economic development in the region.”
