"Lamborghini's First Plug-in Hybrid to Launch Domestically in the Second Half of Next Year"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Lamborghini, which is promoting electrification with the goal of becoming a fully electric car brand by 2028, announced that it plans to globally launch a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model in March next year. Additionally, the hybrid model will be introduced in South Korea in the second half of the same year after being previewed.

Francesco Scardaoni, Head of Lamborghini Asia Pacific, stated in an interview after unveiling the Lamborghini 'Huracan Tecnica' at SJ Kunsthalle in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 7th, "The successor to the Aventador will be the first electrified model equipped with a plug-in hybrid unit."

He emphasized, "Even in the electrification era, we plan to maintain a brand identity that makes you feel 'This is a Lamborghini' even with your eyes closed while driving," adding, "The challenge is to showcase Lamborghini's unique identity not only in design but also in handling, performance, and driving feel."

Scardaoni evaluated the Korean market as a key market showing steady growth. South Korea ranked 8th in Lamborghini's country-specific sales performance last year.

He said, "Korea is a trend-leading market and also serves as a window to Asia," and added, "Considering the cumulative number of vehicles ordered currently, I am confident that we will surpass last year's record-breaking performance." He further explained, "Korean customers are special. They tend to want to add their own unique color to their vehicles."

Regarding the recent parts supply shortage, which has become a challenge in the completed car industry, Scardaoni said there is no major problem. He stated, "Lamborghini is the most profitable brand under the Volkswagen Group, so it has priority in the supply of shared parts," and added, "Especially for automotive semiconductors, as the number of manufacturers and production facilities is increasing, I cautiously predict that supply chain issues will improve by the end of this year."

On the same day, Lamborghini launched the V10 super sports car 'Huracan Tecnica' in South Korea. It has been only three months since the Huracan Tecnica was first unveiled worldwide in April.

The Huracan Tecnica is equipped with the same naturally aspirated V10 engine as the Huracan STO, delivering a maximum output of 640 horsepower and a maximum torque of 57.6 kg·m. Thanks to Lamborghini's unique lightweight technology, the curb weight is only 1,379 kg, resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of 2.15 kg/hp. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 9.1 seconds. The braking distance from 100 km/h to a complete stop is only 31.5 meters, and the top speed exceeds 325 km/h.

The official selling price of the Huracan Tecnica starts from 340 million KRW (including VAT). Customer deliveries will begin in the first half of next year.
