[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] Sanofi Global Health announced on the 7th that it will launch a new nonprofit brand called 'Impact' to provide medicines to vulnerable populations in the world's poorest countries.
The Impact brand includes insulin, glibenclamide, oxaliplatin, and more. Through this, Sanofi plans to supply 30 types of medicines to 40 low-income countries. These medicines are included in the World Health Organization (WHO) essential medicines list and cover various treatment areas such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, tuberculosis, malaria, and cancer.
The launch of the Impact brand is one of the initiatives carried out since the establishment of Sanofi Global Health, Sanofi's nonprofit division, last year, aiming to build and strengthen healthcare systems and expand healthcare accessibility through medicine supply in countries with low gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. Sanofi Global Health is a global plan that funds regional support programs, strengthens community integration projects, and provides broad access to medicines across many countries and diverse treatment areas.
Paul Hudson, CEO of Sanofi, said, “Sanofi Global Health has the goal of improving the lives of millions of people worldwide who cannot receive the help they need. Our pursuit to make everyone's life better must include efforts to improve access to quality medicines and healthcare for marginalized populations.”
Additionally, Sanofi announced the creation of an 'Impact Fund' to support startups or innovative companies that can provide scalable solutions for sustainable healthcare services in vulnerable areas. The Impact Fund, which provides funding and technical support for comprehensive community projects, will complement the mission of Sanofi's Global Health Unit by leveraging global, regional, and national investments to support healthcare professional training and help operate sustainable healthcare systems within communities.
