16 Beaches in Gangneung Area to Open Simultaneously on the 8th

National-Scale Badminton and Golf Tournaments Also Held in Gangneung on the 9th-10th

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-chul] This year, 16 beaches in the Gangneung area will operate for a total of 45 days from August 8, starting with the opening ceremony of Gyeongpo Beach, until August 21.

At Gyeongpo Beach, the Gangneung Beach Beer Festival will be held for three days at the central plaza of Gyeongpo Beach to coincide with the opening ceremony.

During the beach opening period, events such as the Immortal Songs Rock Festival, operation of the Gyeongpo beach pool, nighttime opening of Gyeongpo Beach, and busking performances will be held.

Additionally, a 24-hour comprehensive control room will be operated, with water safety personnel and lifesaving equipment deployed, lifesaving drones operated, jellyfish nets installed, and a rip current monitoring system activated to ensure the safety of vacationers and prevent accidents.

Close and constant communication systems will also be maintained with the Coast Guard and military units to ensure safety.

Along with this, Gangneung will hold abundant sports events on weekends.

Hosted by the Gangneung Badminton Association, the 16th Gangneung Gyeongpobae Open Badminton Tournament, with 1,200 teams and over 2,400 participants, will be held on the 9th and 10th at Gangneung Arena and Gangneung Sports for All Center as a nationwide competition.

The Gangneung Golf Association will hold the 13th Gangneung Mayor's Citizen Golf Tournament on the 10th at Gangneung Maple Beach CC, with 40 teams and about 200 participants.
