Busan Cheongdong Elementary School and Japan Mukai Elementary School Participate... Promoting International Sensibility Development
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] On the morning of the 7th, Busan City will conduct an online exchange class between 6th-grade students of Cheongdong Elementary School in Yeongdo-gu and Mukai Elementary School located in Hikoshima, Shimonoseki City.
The Busan-Shimonoseki elementary student exchange project, which began with the selection of exchange schools in May, plans to carry out various activities until November this year, including city introduction videos, letter exchanges, and the 2nd online exchange class. The online exchange class is also part of this exchange project.
Today's online exchange class will be conducted in English for about 90 minutes starting at 10:30 a.m. online at each school due to COVID-19.
The class content includes ▲simple self-introductions ▲watching school introduction videos and sharing impressions ▲games that all students can participate in. To foster closeness among students before the class, letters and simple snacks were exchanged in advance.
As a preparatory work for the class, in June, a Shimonoseki City official dispatched to Busan City conducted a simple city introduction and language class at Cheongdong Elementary School, and similarly, a Busan City official dispatched to Shimonoseki City conducted the same class at Mukai Elementary School.
An official from the city said, “We consider it meaningful to be able to carry out a new exchange project amid the COVID-19 situation,” and added, “We hope this exchange will be an opportunity for students to cultivate an international sense and develop their capabilities as global talents through diverse experiences.”
Since the sister city agreement was signed on October 11, 1976, Busan City and Shimonoseki City have steadily promoted exchanges, and in 2021, to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the sister city relationship, they held a photo exhibition and a video conference between the mayors.
